Short conworld snippets.
(Yes, I like ALIEN, how did you know??)
Omoha [ˈoːmoa̯] is my conworld project I've had since about 2022 and been buildling since (more or less :P). As the design of the homepage might suggest, Omoha is a planet where the ocean plays a central role. It is much more encompassing than the oceans on earth. Whether it is divided into East and West, North and South, the Kokoş [ˈkoːˌkɔʃ] ocean engulfs all the continents (of which there are 4).
Originally, this was meant as a shallow environment for my conlangs to organically grow, but has turned into a much more elaborate art project. This includes maps, artwork, languages, history, nature, countries, and a lot more!
I've already tried making a website before, but I'm not happy with how it turned out. This is going to be its successor, but mainly the place where my worldbuilding will take place. This way I can put my world out there and get a sense of accomplishment whenever I create something new.
So far, I will be focusing on Mangrovia, a subregion of the continent Meda, which I have been developing for quite some time now. It is characterized by vast sea-spanning mangrove forests and thick jungles on the islands. Giant bugs roam the earth, tensions between the castes leads to daring nations, and pressure from the religious North and barbaric East keep the Ribangese people on edge.
Depending on the area and theme of the subpages, there will be differing designs. I feel like that is the best way to convey the atmosphere of each part of my worldbuilding. Other than that, I want to mention my inspirations for starting my html conworld journey again: Zompist and Kélas.
I am going to be transparent: Some of the text passages found on this website were enhanced with AI. Writing isn't my strength and most of my worldbuilding content exists as key notes in an obsidian folder. To make it presentable (for now) I have enhanced some original texts so the webpages aren't overtly short. This has mostly been done in 2024 though, and I doubt I'll be using it from this point on. If anything, I'll update the AI passages along the way some time.
Some passages are also translated via DeepL, as most of my notes are written in German (my native language). I am planning on translating the pages into German as well, but for now they are only available in English.
